I have been a Board Director and Treasurer in the past and have always voted for the good of the membership without any personal agenda. I have also been with the City 18 years so I have a lot of experience dealing with issues in the workplace; giving assistance to many employees even when I was not on the Board. "Since 1949 the MEA has represented City of Santa Monica employees & their families by providing legal protection, securing reasonable wages, good working conditions & other benefits for its members.
Recently we have experienced significant losses in our contract negotiations.
Now that I have been given the privilege of serving the membership,
I see my role as trying to restore what we have lost, protecting what we still have, & reuniting the membership. With your help I believe we can accomplish these goals as we continue the outstanding work we do serving the City of Santa Monica."

"I have been a Crime Prevention Coordinator for thirty years. I've also worked as an inventory clerk/city yards-warehouse, street maintenance/asphalt crew-city yards, and as a janitor & maintenance/city hall, going back to 1966. In the nineties, I served on the MEA Board for two years. I want to make sure MEA continues to be part of the Coalition and that MEA members receive the best representation possible during negotiations. I will strive to make the MEA organization as transparent and accountable in all of its operational proceedings. United we stand - divided - we'll certainly fall short of what we should achieve."

"I’ve been employed by the City of Santa Monica for 14 years and my involvement with MEA started by listening to my co-workers who have held or currently hold positions on the board. I was a steward for a year and then completed the Directors term for Art Lopez when he promoted. This is my first full term as an elected member of the MEA board and I look forward to helping other employees better understand their contract, MOU, and rights and responsibilities as City employees."
